Teacher Spotlight: Mrs. Crews

Mrs. Crews helps a student in her first period class with a smile on her face. Crews is known for finding a solution with a positive outlook!

Mrs. Crews is a math teacher at Wheeling Park High School who changes lives one integer at a time.

Mrs. Crews started teaching at Park the fall of 2011 and her favorite thing about teaching is getting to know her students and watching them grow each year.

“I enjoyed helping people who struggled with math through tutoring and thought I might be able to make math more accessible by teaching,¨ said Mrs. Crews.

Mrs. Crews began teaching in January 2004 and she is so grateful to be a teacher.

¨I am a self admitted nerd. I love teaching math and helping students see how it all connects,” said Crews.

She loves to help students with anything. Students often remark that she treats them like their own kids. Mar Rouse is a senior at Wheeling Park high School who echoes that sentiment.

¨Mrs. Crews is a great teacher. She is always there for all of her students. I think everyone needs someone like that,¨ said Mar Rouse.

Crews sees the relationships she builds with students in the classroom as a journey she gets to be a part of for life.

“Many students I will have as freshmen and then possibly again as seniors and I love seeing how they’ve grown over the years. If I’m lucky I run into students later in life and get to see where their lives have led and I am so grateful to have been part of that journey,¨ said Mrs. Crews.

JaiLynn is a junior at Wheeling Park High School. She is a first year social media editor for The Park Press She has been writing on The Park Press for two years. She has been doing All Star Cheer for ICE for four years in Washington, PA. Her favorite things are hitting zero deductions at cheer competitions to the help of hitting zero thanks to her sweet coach for trying her hardest to make her teams dream big. She loves writing things, her favorite thing to do with the newspaper is getting to know what’s going on around the school. She has been writing since the 7th grade from Warwood and she really enjoys it.

Claire McFadden, Managing Editor

Claire McFadden is a senior at Wheeling Park, she is the Managing Editor for the Park Press. Claire loves to write fun editorials for the Press, like her September 2023 article, National Chicken Month. Outside of the press you can find Claire on the field during halftime, twirling baton alongside the marching band. She is also a member of Wheeling Park’s Speech and Debate team. On the weekends she spends all her time working at her part time job, Jimmy Johns where she is a shift lead.
