The spring musical has long been regarded as a huge event at Wheeling Park High School, and this year is no different. This year, the Park Players are putting on The Addams Family–A comedy with high-energy and thrilling instrumentals. The show is this weekend, May 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. The Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m., and the Sunday show is at 3 p.m. Admission is free for any OCS student, so don’t miss the performance of a lifetime and come support the Park Players!
Putting on a production has a lot more to it than just the performing. The Addams Family features a complicated, large set that ties the entire piece together. Emma Seibert, a junior, has been helping with building and painting the set in her first-period Technical Theater class.
“It’s given me a bunch of life skills that I need to know…It’s nice seeing all of the hard work I’ve put in each morning to be on the stage,” said Seibert.
Even beyond the set, there is a large technical side of the show that many students come together to work on.
“We have worked extensively with Mr. Markle…some people in our class also help with the stage lights and sound,” said Seibert.
The cast, of course, is also nothing to sneeze at. The Addams Family features the main 2 families–The Addams and the Beniekes–as well as the Addams’ Ancestors. Maria Faulstick, a sophomore, has greatly enjoyed the role of playing an ancestor.
“I just like the fun we have backstage…the interactions between the crew and the cast…I think it’s really great,” said Faulstick.
If you’re a fan of the popular Netflix series, Wednesday, get excited. Grace Mull, a senior, is playing on Wednesday and has incorporated some of the show into her performance.
“When everyone does the twist, I do Jenna Ortega’s choreography from the Wednesday TV show,” said Mull.
Overall, The Addams Family is set to be another great addition to the many years of truly fantastic performances from the Park Players.
