Jozalin “Izzy” Gonzalez is senior at Park. Although she has not spent her whole high school journey here, Izzy has still made the best of her time at Park. Izzy is part of the senior student council and is an influential member of the Park Press.
“I joined journalism at the beginning of my senior year. I thought it would be a great way to learn about the school, and it really has been” said Gonzalez.
When she is not representing the senior class or writing for the school paper, she is enjoying any one of her many hobbies. Izzy loves to skateboard and has the scars to prove it. In terms of artistic expression, Izzy paints, writes poetry, and enjoys photography along with decorating.
“I’m a big skate boarder. I love photography, and I was super excited about the photojournalism project. I love painting and poetry, but the sense of inspiration comes in waves” said Gonzalez.
After high school, Izzy plans to go to Northern for two years and then spend another two more years at West Virginia University. Izzy is keeping an open mind when it comes to what major she plans to focus on.
“I’m undecided. I think about what is going to make me happy, and what I am going to want to wake up and do every morning. The realism of it is I don’t know, but that’s okay” said Gonzalez.
When asked about teachers that had an effect on her, Gonzalez mentioned her kindergarten teacher, whose kindness had a great effect on her.
“She was so kind; she allowed me to see what a good person and good woman was like. She taught me how easy it is to be kind and gentle to other people,” said Gonzalez.
Mr. Cirilli is Izzy’s psychology teacher, and he has advice for her in her future endeavours.
“I would tell her to always keep being herself, and I think that she will be very successful. Specifically with psychology, she has learned a lot and it has helped her understand people, which has helped her understand the world a little bit better” said Mr. Cirilli.
