The General Sales Manager at WTRF for over 10 years had a vision for something bigger, and she was inspired to achieve that goal through hard-work and determination. She devised an email to the head recruiter of Nexstar Media Group, containing a proposition for a new job that she curated for herself, which included problems she would solve, a source of money, etc. At the time, her offer was declined, but this did not stop her from continuing to persevere. A few months later, she discovers a job posted by Nexstar that was almost identical to her previous proposition. A year and a day later, she had been working at her desk, operating her dream job.
“Everything you get in life is through hard work, and dedication,” said Lauren Hersey.
Lauren Hersey is the Director of Corporate Communications for Nexstar, the largest operator of television stations in the nation, with over 200 stations. While working with Nexstar, Lauren helps operate the Jim Hill Media Podcast Network and operations and marketing for Colin Egglesfield, an American actor. She is also a businesswoman, problem solver, master manifestor, Disney lover, and mother of three.
“My favorite thing about her is that she always knows what to do in every situation, and knows how to handle it all,” said Lainee Hersey, daughter of Lauren.
In 2016, Lauren was selected to receive the Generation Next: 40 under 40, an award that focuses on rising leaders under 40 years old who lead successful lives. Lauren enjoys taking time for women’s empowerment. She began a national women’s group, and has spoken at a national women’s conference. She has also created the Strong Life Journal Planner, which she currently sells on Amazon. The journal greatly encourages productivity and time-management.
“If women are rallying for each other and helping and supporting and communicating, I feel like you can be unstoppable if you have people in your corner,” said Lauren.
At only eight years old, Lauren knew that she wanted to work in television. She is a strong believer of the fact that you can do anything you want as long as you master your mindset. She studied business management in school because she always felt like she was destined to be a boss. She loves building a team and taking her time to invest in people to help them reach their full potential. It was important to her to be able to make an impact, and for people nationwide to be affected by what she was creating.
“Lauren has built a very impressive career and is an inspirational woman with a genuine personality,” said Nesrin AlKhouri, a friend of Lauren.
She believes that people need positivity and to shield themselves from others negativity. She gives the example of when people are jealous of where you are in life, they never view what you did to get there. The most valuable lesson life has taught her is everything requires balance. She believes you can paint your own picture of how you want your life to play out, but it all takes small steps. By setting yourself up for success, you can make your own magic in your life. Whether it’s looking at your worst day like it’s your best day, or sending the head recruiter of Nexstar a job proposition, you can make steps in your life to be able to lead yourself to success. Lauren is a prime example of how if you work hard and encourage yourself to persevere, you can truly do anything you set your mind to.
