If you’ve ever seen Grease, you know that the best romances start over the summer, and Hayden Groves and Katy Smith’s love story is no exception. While they didn’t start officially dating until after the school year started, everything began this past summer when they got closer. Despite any challenges or hurdles they faced in their relationship, they stuck by each other and that is what makes their love so special.
Over this past summer before school, Hayden and Katy met, and one might even argue it was love at first sight. Talking at parties, getting to know one another, direct messaging– it’s your classic beginning of any good, modern love story.
Hayden said, “This summer, I went to a couple of the parties she had at her neighbor’s house because they have a pool, and we just started talking then. She was texting me on TikTok and stuff, and then we stopped talking for a while but then when school started back up, we started talking again. That’s when we got together.”
Katy was able to add on more to that though, exploring the more specific details of their relationship’s beginnings and a major hurdle they had to overcome. Their relationship wasn’t always so perfect, despite how it may appear now.
“Over the summer we became really close and hung out all the time. We began talking and everything then, and around homecoming we had a really big falling out, but around December we reconnected and have been dating for two months,” said Katy.
With that beginning came a wonderful relationship built on loyalty, respect, kindness, and love. It’s no surprise how they came to end up dating one another, judging by their social circles and how they interacted with each other.
Katy said, “Our friends definitely brought us together, and we just realized we had a connection that was stronger than we’ve ever had with someone else. Everyone supported us and thought we were really good together, so that’s what brought us closer.”
They do just about everything together, whether it be a trip, movie, dinner, or something else entirely. As long as they’re spending time with one another, that’s all that matters to them.
“We like to hang out at each other’s houses, go on trips, go to the movies, go shopping, go out to eat; anything we can to just spend time together,” said Katy.
Hayden also said, “We like to get food a lot, watch movies, watch ‘Stranger Things’ together, stuff like that. We also like to go to her neighbor’s pool and hang out there with the hot tub and whatnot.”
Another facet of any good relationship is what draws you to your partner in the first place, and both Hayden and Katy have pretty clear reasons for finding one another so wonderful.
“I like how she is sweet and funny, and she’s her own person. She doesn’t try to be like her friends or anything like that. She just cares about me– more than anyone I’ve ever met, honestly– and she’s a great person. That’s why I love her,” said Hayden.
Katy said, “I love his style and his personality, especially how he’s always welcoming and always trying to help everybody else around him become a better person. I also love his passion towards both his sports and me.”
If it isn’t obvious by now, Hayden and Katy are a couple that– despite the odds– found a perfect partner in each other, and that is exactly what Valentine’s Day is all about. No matter what happens down the line, it’s pretty clear that these two will face it together.
