The astronomy club is a week 1 club that is sponsored by Ms. Templeton, and they are still accepting new members if you are interested.
In this club, Ms. Templeton teaches her students about the history of flight from kites to spaceships cruising among the cosmos! She also teaches about space events in the month that they have the club.
“I like the club because I can learn new things about space,” said club member Zi’ Keriya Fleming.
Coming up, there will be three meteor showers. December 3rd, there is a meteor shower at midnight, and you can see this with an app recommended by Ms. Templeton called “SkyView”. This meteor shower is the stars in the Gemini constellation dying. Another tip from Ms. Templeton is to look for Jupiter, the brightest “star” in the sky, and you should be able to see the meteor shower.
“My favorite part of the club is talking about recent events that are in space and why they’re happening as well as being able to see them with my own eyes,” Ms Templeton said.
Students describe this club as having a welcoming atmosphere.
“My favorite part about the club is how we can share whatever we want about space; it’s very open and student-led,” said club member Tristan Gonzalez.
The atmosphere and student-led invesitgations are a reason to come to astronomy club, but stay for the learning!
“My favorite part about astronomy is the teacher, Ms. Templeton, because she makes astronomy fun and is good at teaching it,” Said Alivia Beadle.
They are going on a field trip in the spring to the Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. It sounds like a blast!
“On our field trip, we will be looking at a bunch of different airplanes and space rockets,” said Ms. Templeton. “If you wanna be a superstar, join our club in flex week 1!”
