Santa’s Workshop comes to Wheeling Park High School every year for the holiday season to give gifts to students selected by teachers and staff.
The Counseling Department, Mr. Skrzypek, Mrs. Hillbery, and Mr. Nardone work to create a gift giving workshop which will be open the last few days of December before break.
“We bring them in and give them gifts which they deserve,” said Skrzypek. “Seeing kids super excited to see Santa and his reindeer, they laugh and they’re happy and I really enjoy that.”
The counselors have already started their preparations, they will sleigh up and they will have it decorated and will be rocking out there.
“Each teacher, counselor, or admin chooses one student from their classes or caseload who has been working hard, making good choices, doing good things,” said counseling department chair, Mrs. Short.
Mr. Skrzypek’s favorite memory is seeing the kids smile and laugh.
“I enjoy seeing their smiles and that they’re happy and it makes me smile. I really enjoy this time of year because it’s filled with joy and smiles,” said Mr. Skrzypek.
Wheeling Park strives to ensure that every student feels a bit of holiday cheer.
“It really brings out people’s happiness and gratitude in them. It just really stands out the positive holiday vibe. It’s an amazing way for us to celebrate prior to going on Christmas break,” said Mrs. Short.
