On October 31, 2025, the Ohio County Board of Education met to discuss a common issue in schools right now, students misusing A.I. to create deceptive images of other students and teachers.

About a month ago, many students at Wheeling Park High School reported seeing false A.I. generated images of them online, falsely accusing them of taking part in activities that they were involved in. Snapchat A.I. kissing filter was a common tool used to create these false images. Other A.I. tools are being used to create inappropriate images of students and staff.
Mr. Doyle, assistant principal at Wheeling Park High School shares his views on this topic.
“First of all, A.I. can be a very valuable source when used properly, when used inappropriately, it can be really dangerous, it can put students in compromising positions,” said Doyle. “When videos and photos like that get out whether it was made by a friend as a joke or made by someone who they’re having issues with, it will directly impact their future.”
Technology is constantly advancing and so is A.I. Getting rid of A.I. is not a solution because it will continue to come back again and again, and this will not prevent students from misusing it. The Board of Education decided upon starting to educate students and parents about the harm of misusing A.I. to create deceptive and inappropriate images, in the upcoming future.
Officer Wilson, the PRO officer at Wheeling Park High Schools explains the consequences of misusing A.I.
“I think that kids have phones and access to the A.I. software but don’t realize the consequences of what they create can cause life long penalties,” said Wilson. “The severity of the crime that they’re dealing with depending on what they create, could be a felony.”
Not being face to face, and being behind a screen can make it easy to say and do stuff we typically will not in person; however, it is important to educate ourselves and others about issues that are harming our community and can harm the future of ourselves and others.
