The American Cancer Society Youth Board club at Wheeling Park High School’s main goal is to educate people on all types of cancers, not just one specific kind.
“Our club will put out information on the cancer of the month and share treatment and resources specifically targeted for those cancers” said Mrs. Robbins, teacher at Wheeling Park, and advisor for the american cancer society club.
During the year, the club spreads information on all different types of cancers, they also raise money and make gifts for patients.
“Throughout the year we make few educational slides and flyers to be posted during the corresponding months of awareness. We also work together, making tie blankets that are sent to cancer patients, hopefully bringing light to the hospital setting”, said Kerrigan Moses, junior at Wheeling Park High School, and member of the ACS Youth Board.
This year, the club is planning to do many different things to help and educate people.
“Our club will put out information on the cancer of the month and share treatment and resources specifically targeted for those cancers. We participate in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life each August. We also are a Hole Sponsor for the Randy Stephens annual golf scramble,” said Robbins.
