Patriot fall ball slides into season at Wheeling Park. Different from spring season baseball, fall ball is coached by dads of players on the team. It is a great way for baseball players to get some practice and games in the off season, this allows the players to stay in shape and improve their skill before the spring season starts.
Just because the regular coaches for Patriot baseball are not able to coach the team this fall they are still very supportive of their players. Coach Myers, the head baseball coach of the Patriots, still helps with the organizational side of fall ball, and still gets to watch the games.
Myers describes fall ball as “a chance to see incoming freshmen that will try out in the spring and allows them to play ball.”
“Laid back instructional league, allows players to play different positions and find a part of their game they want to improve before the competitive spring season starts,”said Myers.
Coach Myers is very excited about this year’s team and he is seeing positive senior leadership after a decent end to last year’s 17-14 season.
So far the Patriots have had a great start to the season including September 12th’s win against the Brooke Bruins.
“I am feeling pretty good,” said junior Miles Gorby after their win against the Bruins.
Gorby said the Patriots played well as a team and feels that fall ball is a “good way to get a few games in before the winter starts.”
Gorby also describes fall ball as a good way to see your competition before the regular season begins when scores are kept. So far the Patriots are looking forward to a great fall ball and spring season ahead of them.
