The Girl’s Track team is sprinting into the 2026 season! Their first meet was on March 19th in Morgantown and their next home track meet is on April 11 at the Dick Dei Track Classic.
“I’m most looking forward to the state meet, its what we work all year for, it’s our big championship at the end of the year, and we have really good girls and boys on our team and I think we can get a lot of athletes down there and be able to win and score a lot of events at the state meet,” said Head Coach Phillips.
A fresh season means incoming freshmen.
“I’m excited for new PRs and trying new things like pole vaulting, track is super duper fun and not as hard as I thought it would be,” said freshman Isabella Davis.
Wheeling Park Track is glad to have returning players for another season of greatness!
“I’m most looking forward to going downstate, getting better, and obviously, I’m hoping to go down to nationals again and just celebrating with my team and having fun,” said junior K’Lyn Neider.
Sports can be an outlet for physical exercise and social interaction, and the Wheeling Park Track Team is a great way to find community, considering they have 100 people, with about 40 girls and 60 boys.
“I’m most looking forward to seeing everybody just being happy with each other, and there is no drama, so everyone’s just having fun together,” said sophomore Lakin Chambers.
Go check out their community and exciting environment at the Dick Dei this weekend!
“I think that track at Park is definitely a very good environment, I’d say we have a great group of people, and the coaches and [students] are very accepting and welcoming to anybody who wants to do it,” said junior McKenna Gutherol.
