The girls’ basketball team (7-2) defeated Norwin High School (10-3) in a nail-biter game last Saturday 52-51.
Our girls traveled to Westmoreland County to take on the Norwin Knights. The Knights are a respected WPIAL 6A team. Last season, they made it to the PA 6A state semi-final.
Our girls battled to the last minute, pulling out a win by one point. The game was constantly back and forth as these two teams fought for tri-state bragging rights.
“The game against Norwin was great way to help us prepare for the best teams in West Virginia like Morgantown. They are physical and play great defense like Morgantown does and I expect them to make a run in Pennsylvania. Last year, they reached the big school PA state semifinals and returned all 5 starters. We did struggle to score in the 4th quarter but we won the game on the defensive end. Our effort by all 6 kids that played in the game was the best we had all year and we hope that continues. People view us as an offensive team that can put up a lot of points but we are capable of being an elite defensive team so we have to continue to focus on doing that,” said Coach Young
