Ms Linda Fonner makes a very big impact on everyone in the school, but many students may not know her name. Ms. Fonner is the Coordinator of Accounting and Athletics at Wheeling Park High School. If you have ever ridden a bus with a team, stayed in a hotel overnight on a school trip, or participated in a school fundraiser, then you have benefitted from the work of Ms. Fonner.
Mr. Salintino, a teacher and coach at Park, nominated her for the Service Personnel of the Year at Wheeling Park High School award in recognition of her good deeds.
“I nominated Linda Fonner because of the consistent dedication, organization, and care she brings to our athletic department every single day. She goes above and beyond her role as an athletics secretary, ensuring that everything runs smoothly behind the scenes for coaches and athletic programs,” said Mr. Salintino.
Ms. Fonner’s impact often goes unnoticed because so much of what she does is behind the scenes, but our program wouldn’t function the same without her. She plays a critical role in the coaches and the day-to-day operations of all athletic programs run efficiently. She works with staff and students, and when she does, she enjoys interacting and helping them with anything they need.
“I was very surprised when he nominated me for personnel of the year. I just try my best and do what I can to help the coaches or whoever comes in contact with me,” said Ms Fonner.
Her ability to stay organized across multiple sport and activity seasons at once is truly impressive. Beyond her work ethic, she brings a positive attitude and a genuine willingness to help, which creates a strong and supportive environment for everyone involved in athletics.
