Wheeling Park High Schools’ boys golf team won OVACs and has spent this past week at golf states. Park’s own Will Koegler tied for sixth over all, and the team as a whole, finished fourth at states.

Participants and spectators wore orange ribbons to honor Mr. Myers, and dedicated a banner in his name for the baseball field, to respect Myers’ love and support for fall sports.
The golf team is a very tight knit family at Park, and many on the team plan to continue golfing in the future.
“I’m undecided. I am either going to play club golf at WVU or try to play division two golf somewhere else,” said senior team member Will Koegler.
Many of the boys on the team share the same types of goals, and the coach’s on the team have helped make their personal goals come true. However, Coach Headley is set to retire after this year’s golf season after three decades of coaching as an assistant to head coach in 2008. He does plan to assist the team during his downtime.
“They’ll have me around so if they need some help, I’ll help them out. Whatever I’ve got to do so that will be fine,” said Headley.
Coach Headley is deeply loved by the team. Although everyone is sad to see him go, the team is thankful for the memories they made and is excited to see what their beloved coach’s retirement has to offer.
“I think it’s pretty sad that Coach Headley is retiring but he’s retiring after a good career where he won six championships” said Koegler.
Even though this year’s tee-time is over, the drives they made along the way chipped them to success. After an eventful season, and many wins throughout, the team now gets to enjoy their off season.
