Fall, Fashion, Festivities

Fall%2C+Fashion%2C+Festivities

Once again, it is the most wonderful time of the year, and no I’m not talking about christmas. In my educated opinion, Thanksgiving overrides Christmas due to the food, the overall message, and the outfit opportunities. Every family celebrates turkey day a little differently, therefore the attire will fluctuate. I grew up in a home that had a very strict dress code when it came to holiday dinners, so without a doubt I found myself in a dress with at least some kind of plaid on my body. But for many other families Thanksgiving dinner is a more casual event. With so much variety, it’s hard to put together an outfit. Lucky for you, I have a couple of clothing items I would love to see people wearing in their annual Thanksgiving instagram posts.

The number one article of clothing I would love to see this year is a baggier pull-over sweater. I have seen these all over my For You Page, and think they are the perfect item to both dress up, and down. To make this pullover a bit classier, I would pair with a nice pair of pants, depending on how dressy the occasion is. I have this wonderful pair of wide leg corduroy pants that I plan on wearing for Thanksgiving, so that was the immediate vision I had for this sweater. But if you’re attending a casual dinner, maybe lean towards flare leggings, or a cute pair of sweats. If you’re looking to take your look the extra mile I encourage you to reach for that cable knit pattern, or stripes. My favorite pull-over sweaters I have seen are from Aerie, and have a lot of variety.

The second item I’m anticipating are low waisted wide leg jeans. With the clean girl aesthetic taking over, I’m pushing for lots of light wash denim. My favorite thing about a pair of pants in this category is how flexible you can be with your top, and shoes. I have been obsessed with a nice stiletto, and jeans, but I don’t really have any events that I can wear that combination to. So if you’re looking for an excuse to sport a dressy look such as that, Thanksgiving dinner is your time to shine. As for shirts, I have been seeing these long sleeve spandex tops everywhere, and love the simplicity of it. A couple of places to find these are: Skims, H&M, and even Amazon. As for the jeans, pretty much wherever you usually buy your denim from will most likely have a similar cut. The pair that have gotten the most traction are from Motel Rock, and Abercrombie & Fitch. They are both on the more expensive side, but will last you an extended amount of time.

The last garment I recommend for this Holiday dinner is what Vogue refers to as the “Short n Sweet Jacket”. Since it is the end of November, layering up is both cute, and practical. The classification of a “Short n Sweet Jacket” is any type of cropped coat. I’m sure most of us have seen the cropped puffer that circulated the internet, but for Thanksgiving dinner I am envisioning more of a trench coat. Trench coats are a fall classic, but the cropped version adds the perfect modern twist. A “Short n Sweet Jacket” is a warm, and adorable addition to any outfit, and can be worn in many different ways.
