With Christmas just around the corner, many are queuing up their streaming services and cracking open their DVDs to watch holiday movies — from comforting classics to new releases. Seeing as different movies speak to different people, which one represents you based on your zodiac sign?
Aries – Home Alone
Bold and ambitious, Arietes love to be number one and dive headfirst into any challenge that comes their way. This mirrors how Kevin McCallister was fully committed to his plans concerning the ‘Wet Bandits’ and the challenges of taking care of both himself and the house without his family. Arietes don’t mind the hardships and hurdles that come their way, so long as they come out on top. They don’t think before they leap, which can lead to major repercussions, as it did for Kevin when he faced the harsh reality of his family’s absence. Their creativity is what drives their ambition, and, being so confident and driven, they too would conceptualize Kevin’s genius ideas!

Taurus – White Christmas
Enjoying the finer things in life, Tauruses resonate best with a classic film – and what classic film is more refined and fitting than White Christmas? The flashy Broadway allusions, themes of nostalgia and camaraderie, and, of course, the vintage aesthetic make the film perfect for Tauruses. Their love of stability is also intertwined with classic movies, as change is often intimidating, but classics never die. White Christmas perfectly matches their want for all things timeless — snuggle up with a comfortable blanket and mug of cocoa as the snow falls.

Gemini – The Princess Switch
Masters of guiding change and transformation, The Princess Switch is entirely a Gemini’s style. The film features two girls with near-identical appearances, which reflects the Gemini symbol of the twins. Constantly juggling a variety of hobbies and passions, Geminis certainly resonate with the girls juggling their lives, adapting to challenges and changes alike. The transformation of the girls as they swap places directly reflects Geminis’ adapting from one situation to the next in the best of ways!

Cancer – It’s a Wonderful Life
Being as family-oriented as you are, Cancerians, It’s a Wonderful Life truly resonates with you and your emotional, intuitive nature. Cancerians care deeply about the well-being of those around them, just as George Bailey comes to realize how important he is to his family and town. Cancerians aren’t always the most open about their feelings, just as George didn’t share how much he was struggling until his turmoils climaxed. However, Cancerians can eventually build trust with those who serve as a support system, just as George’s guardian angel, Clarence, did for him. They appreciate and look fondly at the positive aspects of life, even when times are hard, and are content knowing they have people to help when needed. George Bailey learns a similar lesson, and because of this, he and Cancers have much to agree on.

Leo – Spirited
Bathing in the limelight and always yearning for more, Leos and Spirited go hand in hand. Spirited is a modern musical comedy adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”, starring Hollywood icons Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. The show-stopping numbers, bright colors, and lively feel of the film all resonate with Leos more than any traditional film could. Leos’ loyalty to their friends and family is also well represented in the film, given that the Ghost of Christmas Present attempts to reform Clint Briggs to help him be loyal and caring, just like a Leo. Leos may seem conceited or self-absorbed, but they have their own redemptive arcs in a lot of ways, hence why this story of true redemption for Briggs is perfectly representative of them.

Virgo – Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Virgos are perfectionists, ambitious, and unafraid to keep practicing until they master a skill – what better movie to represent that level of dedication than the classic Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer? The titular, ostracized reindeer, Rudolph, works relentlessly to prove his worth to the other reindeer, despite all the challenges in his way. Hermey, the elf who is passionate about becoming a dentist, is also representative of that strength and commitment that Virgos possess. A lesson Virgos often find themselves needing to learn is that beauty can often be found within their perceived flaws, which is what Rudolph himself learns throughout his journey.

Libra – The Santa Clause
Libras have a unique ability to blend their confidence and kindness, just as Scott does throughout The Santa Clause. Their inclination towards justice is well represented in the overall plot of the film, seeing as the premise is centered around Scott’s role in the incident of Santa’s making him take over his job, per the “Santa Clause.” Libras also strive to spread goodwill and positivity, being described as the social butterfly of the zodiac. So, the idea of bringing Christmas cheer to families worldwide, just like Santa Claus, likely appeals to them. Despite the film’s lighthearted air, Libras’ appreciation for all things artistic and expressive makes it the perfect choice for them!

Scorpio – How the Grinch Stole Christmas
Calculating and particular, Scorpios know what they want and aren’t afraid to play the long game to get it, just like the Grinch from How The Grinch Stole Christmas. He organized his plan in the time leading up to Christmas to steal it from the Whos in Whoville to accomplish his goals. Even if Scorpios are not making nefarious plans as he did, they are still thinking in the long term and playing chess instead of checkers. Despite the negativity surrounding the sign, they always prove to everyone the good heart they have, just as the Grinch did at the end of the film when his heart grew from Whoville’s acceptance. People always come around to their particular nature, just as they did for the Grinch, and the similarities to him speak volumes to their wit and cleverness!

Sagittarius – Elf
Being the most unique sign, Sagittarians are creative, lively, and curious – all of those traits being characteristics shared with Buddy the Elf. When Buddy travels to New York in search of his father, he is excited to experience the real world outside of the life he knew in the North Pole, just as Sagittarians are always excited to experience life to the fullest. They are also known for their bluntness at times, just as Buddy is throughout Elf. Sagittarians always speak their minds, which can often lead to misunderstandings, as it did for Buddy. Despite their naivety at times, they are curious and creative, and showcase that at every opportunity. Buddy does the same while learning about the real world outside of Santa’s workshop.

Capricorn – A Christmas Story
Inside every Capricorn is a mischievous troublemaker, and that entirely resonates with Ralphie Parker in A Christmas Story as the film’s antics ensue. Capricorns are said to age backwards, being known for their youthful, optimistic, and playful nature getting stronger as they age. Who better represents this than a playful child like Ralphie? Even as he gets older, he still tells the story of this Christmas with a playful, juvenile tone. While he may be determined to get a “Red Ryder air rifle,” Capricorns are determined to accomplish their own goals and are relentless when it comes to them. The fast-paced, humorous nature of the movie matches Capricorns’ perspectives of life, making it the perfect fit for any Capricorn.
Where to Watch: Hulu and HBO Max
Aquarius – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Innovative and collaborative, Aquarians are always ready to handle challenges that they come across in nontraditional ways and persevere despite failure. This is exactly like Clark Griswold, who faces many challenges in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and perseveres despite his many failures. Aquarians care deeply about their interpersonal relationships, just as Clark wants his and his family’s Christmas to be perfect. However, sometimes Aquarians become so focused on trying to solve problems that they fail to see the bigger picture. Clark does the same in the film as his efforts continue to be futile.

Pisces – Love, Actually
Pisceans, as members of the final sign, have learned the lessons of the other signs, and are thus the most compassionate, empathetic, and sensitive. They are extremely emotional and can often become overwhelmed by those feelings, exactly like Love, Actually, in which nine journeys intertwine due to their emotions. The love stories throughout the film and the overcoming of hardships and heartaches are exactly what Pisceans embody. They are sure to resonate with the deep emotional turmoil of each character as they go on their respective journeys.
