The wrestling team will be traveling to WesBanco Arena on Thursday, January 19 for the OVAC Championship that lasts till Friday. 

The wrestling team will be defending their 5A OVAC title in the upcoming week. Coach Leggett has set up a schedule to enhance the preparation for this huge tournament, “we wrestle all OVAC schools leading up to this and different things, and we go to bigger tourtments to prepare our guys for this.” Not only is their goal to bring home plenty of trophies, but to absorb some experience from it, “I’m hoping we just come together as a team. We are always looking for bonus points, and to be able to get big points, to be in the top of mix and look to win.” Coach Leggett has high expectations set for his wrestlers,”we go into every tournament looking to win, thats what we kind of plan for. We look to peak at two points during the season, OVAC and the post-season.”

Erick Brothers is one of the six seniors on the wrestling squad. “And just prove my point,” is Erick’s mentality coming into this tournament after losing in the 220 finals last year. He is now ranked 3rd in the 215 weight class, and he is eager to make a comeback, “I’m pretty hungry for some revenge, last year I lost a match I shouldn’t have lost in the finals.” Erick reflects on his mistakes from last year, “I was beating the kid, and ended up just getting put in a weird move, and getting stuck,” revenge will be sweet for our senior wrestler, Erick Brothers.
