Small Business Spotlight: Hole N’ Run

Small+Business+Spotlight%3A+Hole+N+Run

If you’re a golfer, in need of new clubs or golf balls, looking for clothes to support the area schools, your favorite college team, or even your favorite Pittsburgh sports team, Hole N’ Run on Washington Avenue is a popular spot for it all among locals. The store opened in 1979, right up the road from the current location.

“We started basically as a sporting goods store, specializing in shoes and golf,” said former longtime owner, Floyd Schuler.

Since opening, they have expanded the store into an embroidery business and more. They have provided so many teams and local schools with clothing such as shirts, pullovers, letterman jackets, and more.

“He’s helped the golf team out, he’s always looking out for the kids in the area,” said Mr. Headley, head coach of the golf team.

Headley also referred to the fact that he has gotten shirts from Hole N’ Run for his shop class as well. Hole N’ Run not only does clothing for sports, but they also offer services to classes and clubs at local schools.

Everybody should remember the importance of shopping locally this year as much as possible to support small businesses in the community.

“I would like to think that people would stay local. That they would not buy on the internet,”  said Mr. Schuler.

Though many like to shop online or at malls, there is another way of shopping that is just as important, and that is to shop small.
