Fall Play Preview: Lend Me a Tenor

The fall play will open at 7 on Thursday, November 7th, 7 on Saturday, November 9th, and 3 on Sunday, November 10th. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at the WPHS Go Fans ticket site but how are the Park Players preparing for the upcoming show?

The fall play auditions began on Friday, September 6th, and ended on Monday, September 9th.

With the auditions wrapped up and the roles cast on the 13th, we’ve got an inside look with, the assistant director, Arie Friend, and the director of the play, Dr. Romick.

“We’ve got a really great cast this year, and I’m just really excited to work with them,” said Arie Friend, senior and assistant director.

“The play, Lend Me a Tenor is a comedy authored by Ken Ludwig. It features an 8-person cast and is over the top and filled with physical comedy,” said director and assistant drama coach, Dr.Romick.

Despite the trickiness that may come from working with a particularly smaller cast, the directors, crew, and cast members will make this play great.

“We’re working together to make sure it really comes together,” said Friend.

With this being his first role as a theater director at Wheeling Park, Dr.Romick shared his thoughts and hopes for the play.

“One of the funniest shows that I’ve ever been involved in. Come see the show!”

Above all, Dr.Romick wants this play to renew the belief and trust in theater- for the community to support the endeavor of theater. And now, he can do just that as an assistant drama coach.

Sharod Hodge is a reader and a writer. Sharod likes to write fantasy and/or, but doesn't mind reading any genre. He has an interest in studies of voice and voicework. Whether it be acting, singing, radio, or audiobooks, Sharod thinks the study of performance is fun, even if it’s sometimes difficult to understand. Sharod loves improving his hobbies of writing and voice acting in Fundamentals of Broadcasting. Sharod believes that even the smallest of improvements are worth being happy about. In the future, Sharod wants to try to be in a commercial or advertisement. He would also like to publish something like a novel or short story.

Maliah Miskiewicz, Co-Editor in Chief

Maliah Miskiewicz is the Co-Editor in Chief of the Park Press as well as a senior at Wheeling Park High School. When not designing the Press or taking pictures of everything, she devotes the rest of her time filming, anchoring, and doing whatever she can within WPHP. When not surrounding herself in everything journalism, you’ll find Maliah practicing and competing with the Speech and Debate team where she is not only a State Champion in Humorous Interpretation, but also a qualifier for Pennsylvania's State Championship. Maliah is also the Humorous and Dramatic Interpretation Squad Captain of the team, where she guides her teammates on the road toward the 45th state championship. Maliah is a freshman mentor, REAP Counselor, the Social Media and Publicity Director for WPHP, member of National Honors Society, SkillsUSA, The Quill and Scroll Society, The Thespian Society, Radio-TV Club, The Park Players, as well as playing tennis recreationally. Maliah is proud to have been a member of the Wheeling Park Press during the revival era of our paper, where our staff only consisted of 16 members who re-built our paper from the bottom up… #FoundingFather. She started as merely a Staff Writer, moved her way up to help develop an official aesthetic for the Park Press as the Design Editor, and now is proud to take on her title of Co-Editor Chief.
