The Wheeling Park High School Wrestling team placed eighth at the state tournament with four state placers, Jameson Maynard (second place), Jack Lowe (third place), Malaki Washington (fifth place), and Noah White (sixth place)
“I think a lot of us wrestled well, and the main four that did place wrestled to the top of our abilities,” said Jack Lowe.
Before anyone can make it to states they compete in the regional tournament, the top four from each region and weight bracket go to states.
“After regionals the top four kids from every region went to states, and then you got put into a bracket of 16. You had to win three matches to get to the finals. I won the first two by pin and the third one 16-1 and then in the finals I got beat,“ said Jameson Maynard.
During this off season the boys are going to prepare for nationals then hit the gym to get ready for the next season.
“In the off season, I’ll lift and continue to go to the off season practices, and do my own workouts in preparation for next season,” said Jack Lowe
