Exchange Students Take Over Wheeling Park High School

Alva is from Malmö, Sweden. You can find her cheering on the sidelines on Friday night. Alva notes the differences between the school system here and back home.

"[The biggest difference I've seen] is the school system," said Alva. "At home, [you] stick to a group of people all day. Here, you have classes with different people all day. It's also weird that you have to stay on campus all day."

Mathias Gelbmann

Mathias is from Vienna, Austria. He enjoys playing football, both here and back home, and is on the Park football team. Mathias feels Wheeling isn't very different from home.

"The landscape is similar to where I lived in Austria," said Mathias. He is eager to experience American high school firsthand. "[I am most excited] for homecoming and prom," said Mathias.
Daniel Brazal Morcillo

Daniel is from Madrid, Spain. He is on the soccer team and plans to join track in the spring. He notes considerable differences between Spain and America.

"This school is so big," said Daniel. "It is completely different from where I go back home."
Theodor Graabaek

Theodore is from Copenhagen, Denmark. He is on the hockey team and enjoys the adjustment to Wheeling. He notes many cultural differences between the US and Denmark.

"There are a few big differences," said Theodore. "You have to drive everywhere, and everyone goes out to eat so often- after church, after events- you don't sit down for long."
Luna De Stephanis Gines

Luna is from Seville, Spain. In her free time, she plays soccer and spends time with her host sisters. She is a member of The Park Press, and is thriving in America.
