Taylor Wilson is a senior at Wheeling Park and a first-year member of The Park Press. Taylor’s whole life she has surrounded herself with music, classmates, teammates, choreography, costumes, schoolwork, but most of all, dance.
Taylor began dancing when she was just four years old. Ever Since then dance has been the thing Taylor has always had to fall to. We all know that graduating high school is a big but hard accomplishment. Leaving behind friends, favorite teachers, memories, but most importantly to Taylor, dance.
Taylor plans on attending West Virginia University after graduation and studying public relations and advertising. While Taylor is more than excited for what is yet to come in college that also means leaving something so important to her behind.
“I have no words to describe how I feel when I’m done dancing. While it’s sad that I’m leaving all I know behind, I’m happy to start a new chapter in my life. It’s hard.. I’ve been dancing for thirteen years, it’s been a staple in my life for as long as I know. So when I go to WVU this fall, it’ll feel weird knowing I don’t have that anymore. But regardless, I know I’ll always have a home within my studio and team. And the memories I have with them I’ll cherish for a lifetime,” said Wilson.
For Taylor, dance wasn’t just life at her studio. It was also her life at school. Taylor has been a four year member of the WPHS dance team and has made countless relationships and memories on the team. Being on the dance team gave Taylor something to look forward to and get herself through the week.
“Dance Team and Studio always just gave me something to look forward to. Whether it was practice or a performance, I always had something exciting to do to get me through my day,” said Wilson.
Dance team was much different than dancing at her studio but she loved it just as much. After four years of dancing at football games, basketball games, soccer games, parades and competitions how could you not hold those memories so close to you?
“After nationals even though we didn’t win, we spent so much time together as a family after. We didn’t let the negative of losing affect us. I’ll forever remember spending time together at the pool and watching my coaches go down the slide with us. I’ll remember us just enjoying our last days in Florida. I’ll remember my girls, and my family,” said Wilson.
