Wednesday March 19th the choirs performed the Pops Concert at the J.B. Performing Arts Center. Pops is an annual performance of popular old and new pop songs with choreographed dancing.
This year marks the ten year anniversary of the concert, run by Mrs. Jingle and Mrs. Greenwood. The students and teachers both love this experience to try show choir.
Sophomore Concert Choir member, Lyla Litman said “I absolutely love the pops concert, I think it’s the best concert we do all year. The audience always really enjoys it as well as everyone in choir”.
This year, the choir sang multiple recognizable hits, such as ‘Die With a Smile’, ‘It’s Raining Men’, and ‘Applause’.
The concert was started and has been run by Jingle. She has taken pride in letting the students try show choir, and finds that they end up really enjoying it.
“When we first started the Pops concert, we did it so the students could try out show choir, and it was the only place in the schedule for them to try,” said Jingle, “when we first put dancing and singing together, a lot of the students are hesitant, but as we’ve gone on, the students have really taken it and made it into something they find really fun.”
Pops has been made into an iconic Wheeling Park tradition that we hope will last. Good job to our choir students!
