Most people listen to music on a daily basis, whether it be on a streaming service, or simply on the car radio on the way to work. For those like Denise Glennon, though, music is their whole life.
“Music brings far more joy to me than anything else I’ve ever done and it gives me a feeling that I just can’t describe,” said Glennon.
After attending a Christian music seminar in Nashville, Tennessee, and listening to the song “Someone Else’s Dream” by Faith Hill over and over, a few of the lyrics began to resonate with her.
“She’s got twenty-seven candles on her cake. She needs to make her life her own before there’s twenty-eight,” said Hill.
Glennon did exactly that, and at 27, she packed up and moved from her home state of West Virginia to Nashville, Tennessee. During this time, she truly immersed herself in the world of music. This was seen during experiences like when she sang as a Soprano I with the Nashville Opera Chorus in Puccini’s “Turandot”, or when she worked with a major record label and was able to go backstage during awards shows and performances at the Grand Ole Opry.
“I witnessed a lot of the magic in the music industry,” said Glennon.
Music followed Glennon everywhere she went, including when she moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I saw a Victorian-style caroling group in Las Vegas back in 2011 or 2012 at a company Christmas party. I thought it was such an amazing thing. The Victorian era costumes that the carolers wore just took my mind back to a simpler time, like what I would see in movies,” said Glennon.
This experience stayed in Glennon’s mind for almost 13 years. In 2023, she made the decision to begin her own caroling group in Wheeling.
“I wanted to share that same sense of joy, wonder, and peace with people in my community. I absolutely love Christmas, and I absolutely love singing. To be able to combine those two things while bringing joy to others is priceless,” said Glennon.
Glennon can’t imagine her life without music, and she simply doesn’t want to. Although she hasn’t stayed in the same place, she has been surrounded by music wherever she’s gone.
