The 2024-2025 Wheeling Park swim season has begun, and the team is making quick strides already, even this early in the season.
This year’s captains are senior Levi Parker, and junior Molly George. The team’s seniors are Alex Chillian, Jacob Murphy, Levi Parker, Abby Costain, Brianna Davis, Bethany Greathouse, and Sophia Lucas, and is led by Coach Cook and assistant Coach McKinley.
Captains have the ability to lead a team and motivate them to succeed, four year swimmer, Captain Levi Parker, feels that the best way to bring a team together is to motivate them and hold them accountable.
“The most important thing about being a captain is leading the team, helping everyone out, making the right decisions, and being a role model,” said Parker.
The team is prepared for a good season, with a hope to place well in the state. Coach Cook is prepared to help the team succeed.
“I think we’re going to have a pretty good showing. Our girls are very young, our guys are a little older, but I think we should have a good season, and place well at the OVAC’s and the region” said Coach Cook.
For the girls team, it is vital that they create a stronger bond, not only as athletes, but as people, 3 year Park swimmer, captain Molly George thinks that it is important to foster a healthy environment, in and out of the pool.
“Obviously I want good time drops, but more than that, I want our team to be a family this year, and I think we’ve started that so far” said George.
The team’s next home meet is Saturday, December 14th . Wish our swim team luck!
