Wheeling Park High School welcomed many new teachers this school year, one of them being Ms.Dobrzynski. Dobrzynski is a Wheeling native, and graduated from Wheeling Park High School in 2012. Dobrzynski teaches ninth and tenth grade history. On top of her duty as a teacher, she is also the newest student life coordinator. This means she has a hand in the planning of school dances, and other student activities.
Previous to teaching at Park, Dobrzynski graduated from West Virginia University and was hired directly out of college. “I went to WVU, and got into this program called the Benedum where you got a masters and a bachelor’s degree in five years. I then got highered at East Fairmont High School right out of college, and I’ve been there for the last seven years. Now here I am,” said Dobrzynski.
When it comes to curriculum, Dobrzynski covers a multitude of topics. “I really love early US history. So we start off with European exploration, and I have a cool lesson that is a socratic seminar that the students lead. We also make it to the progressive era which is my favorite time in history,” said Dobrzynski.
Even in her short time working at WPHS, Dobrzynski has managed to give a positive impression to her fellow teachers. “It’s nice to have a Park alumni back in the building. She knows the school, she knows what it’s all about. So it’s good to have someone younger, and back,” said history teacher Ryan Stanton.
Outside of the classroom Dobrzynski finds joy in all things nature, and her past love for coaching. “I love to coach, I love cross country and track. I love anything outdoors, hiking, camping, running, boating. Anything outside at all,” said Dobrzynski.
