After a bumpy start, Wheeling Park baseball has gone 8-2 in their last ten games, giving them a 10-5 overall record. This impressive run of games included a seven game win streak.
“During our win streak, we played very well as a team. Everybody settled into their roles, and contributed what they needed to,” said junior Trenton Rosenthal.
When it comes to their early season success, fundamentals have been key for the patriots.
“Some of the strongest aspects of our team have been defense, and pitching. Our hitting has also been steadily improving in the last seven games. Our players have been playing good fundamental baseball, and coming together as a team,” said Coach Myers.
The team has come into all games prepared and ready to play.
“The team prepares for games by scouting our opponents and creating a game plan. Baseball is a quick changing game, so it doesn’t always work. Our coaches always say it doesn’t matter what our opponent brings, it matters what we bring,” said Rosenthal
Coach Myers believes that in order to keep winning the team needs to keep improving and stay mentally prepared.
“We can always improve on all three major parts of the game: pitching, defense, and hitting. Our key to success will be to keep coming together as a team, and staying focused,” said Coach Myers
The patriots next home game is Monday April, 22nd against John Marshall.
