Wheeling Park High School senior Kaylee Davis was crowned the 2023 Homecoming Queen on October 20th, 2023. Not only is Kaylee deserving of it, but she took her win very humbly.
“First, the homecoming parade was a fun time with some of my best friends,” Davis said. “I got to spend the football game when they announced queen with my friends and family and we picked our cards. I got mine and it was the card. I had won queen. It was a very happy moment. I’m very grateful to be able to be a part of it.”
Outside of her obvious class and beauty, Davis is active in track and field, soccer, strings, and being a good role model. Davis joined the Triadelphia track and field team in 6th grade and has run ever since. She has made it to states every year, qualifying for multiple events. Kaylee Davis went to the Adidas Nationals in 2022.
“I can’t thank my coaches enough for having my back and never giving up on me,” Davis said. “Track has been a huge part of my life and it’s something I can never lose the love for.”
She has since decided to further her academic and track career at West Liberty University in the fall. Davis has been playing soccer since she was three years old. She was part of the Wheeling Park girls’ soccer team state’s win her freshman year and was a captain her senior year. “Those were some of the best experiences I could get,” Davis said. “Although these past two seasons we fell short, it was still a fun experience to make memories with all of my friends.”
She has been involved in orchestra since 4th grade and plays the violin. Mr. Ben Podolski, head of the strings department, has seen her grow both as a person and a violinist. “She’s a role model, people look up to her, and she works hard in my class,” Mr. Podolski said. “She’s the leader of the second violin section. In her and her orchestra, she has made a lot of improvements since she was a ninth grader.”
Davis’s biggest supporters are her family.
“They have been there for me since the beginning and always did everything they could for me to succeed,” Davis said. “I can always count on them to support me no matter what.”
Gracyn Davis, Davis’s younger sister, has always been able to look up to her.
“What I want people to know about Kaylee is that she is kind-hearted,” G. Davis said. “She works hard at everything she does and is always willing to help me with anything I need. She’s also a great friend to have and I know I can always trust her.”
Kaylee Davis proves that hard work pays off, and is a perfect role model to represent Wheeling Park High School.
