Happy prom season! Prom is an event that almost every teenager dreams of going to from a young age on. From seeing prom events in movies, or even watching your older sibling get all spiffed up for the dance, prom is a crucial highschool moment that you’ll likely remember for the rest of your life. And so with that being said, April 26, 2025, Wheeling Park High School will host prom at the Wheeling White Palace with a walk-in at 5:30 p.m. and the dance lasting from 6-9 p.m. (per request from the students wanting the dance to be longer).
The theme for this year’s dance is Havana Nights, full of fun colors and decor. Mrs. Dobrzynski, a teacher at Wheeling Park High School, has been in charge of all things prom, along with this year’s junior class. Dobrzynski shared how the theme Havana Nights came to be, and what it consists of.
“The juniors had seen different dances that looked tropical and colorful and we used that to build the theme, name, decorations,” said Dobrzynski. “It will give colorful, lively, and fun vibes. Lots of leaves, feathers, hot pink, teal, and golden disco balls,” said Dobrzynski.
What better way to kick off the fun themed prom than an even more fun spirit week! Mrs. Dobrzynski gives the inside scoop on the upcoming prom spirit week themes:
Monday- PL Day, No School!
Tuesday- Flower power (70’s theme for Earth Day!)
What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to embrace the 70’s! The decade of the 70’s embraces hippie fashion, psychedelic vibes, and artsy influence, all showcasing a passion for our planet and the ground we walk on.
Wednesday- Salad Dressing Day!

This silly, yet fun theme gives each grade the opportunity to do something different in an interesting way.

Friday- Havana Days Color Wars

A special thank you to Mrs. Marshall and Mr. Myers, as they played a crucial role in the design process of our Havana Nights Logo, spirit week design, and bringing to life to this year’s prom to make sure it’s fun and memorable.
“Ms. Hillberry and her students are creating a beautiful dessert table,” said Dobrzynski.
Tickets are sold online and are 20 dollars each and are on sale until April 11th. Remember to get in spirit, have fun, and enjoy this year’s prom! It will surely be unforgettable.
