Dicarlo’s is a pizza shop in Wheeling that cooks a little differently. The restaurant’s pizza is square and cooked before adding the cheese. I tried this pizza for the first time recently, and I enjoyed it.
It’s much different from pizza in my home country, Denmark.
When I first tried it, the biggest thing that stuck out to me was the convenience of the square shape. I could tell when I looked at it that this pizza was going to be very different from what I had in Denmark. Another thing that stood out to me was the cheese. I liked that it was still melting while I ate.
It is a controversial topic in Wheeling. The opinion on whether or not the pizza is good is very split.
Sophomore Ty’Aezia Butler said, “I like Dicarlo’s, I am a big fan of square pizza, I think it’s easier than circle pizza”.
On the other hand, some people aren’t fans.
Sophomore, Hannah Heusel, isn’t as fond, “I don’t really like the fact that the cheese isn’t completely melted. I just think it isn’t as good as the other options in Wheeling.”
In Denmark, pizza is much healthier than in America. It is never greasy and is often topped with vegetables, such as spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, and peppers. Pizza in Denmark is also typically round.
If you have never tried Dicarlo’s, I heavily recommend trying it. It is worth the hype!
