Last weekend the patriot swimmers were in Morgantown competing at the WVSSAC State Championships. Fifteen of our swimmers qualified for the championship, and seven of them made it to the final.
There were multiple first time qualifiers this year, such as sophomore Lucrezia Santini.
“I was very happy to be there, and I was happy to see myself and my teammates succeed,” said Santini.
There were also a few repeat qualifiers, such as the girls team captain, Molly George, who finaled in two events, and finished second in the state in one of them.
“I was extremely happy with my performance” said George, “I was happy with my times, and I did even better than I thought I would. I was happy with my team, we had a few hiccups, but overall, we had a lot of fun, which helped keep the environment positive to help me perform well“.
The top twelve swimmers out of twenty four in each event qualified for “A” and “B” finals. These swimmers from the Park team qualified.
