Mrs. Murphy, CIS staff at Wheeling Park High School, is hosting the 4th Textured Expo at Bridge Street Middle School on February, 26 2025 from 5 – 6:30 p.m. There will be food, drinks, and plenty to see. Everyone is welcome because the event is free and open to the public.
The event will feature many small and local businesses including:
Just Me Salon
Luxury Lifestyle Grooming Lounge
Two Times Clothing & Collectibles
Elite Academy of Hair Design
Bare Beauty
Klawz by Kyra
OutDated Threads
Stradwicks Fade Cave
If you haven’t realized, the expo went from specifically a textured hair expo to the Textured expo to feature more than just hair and hair products. New services have been added including: fashion, waxing, and nail tech/lash professionals.
“When we first came up with the idea, I didn’t think it would be so successful. Then it was!” said Mrs. Murphy about the inception of the expo. “I knew there was a need [in the community], but I didn’t realize there was such a need.”
Mrs. Murphy sees the need as both an outlet for self-expression through hair, makeup, and clothing as well as an opportunity for students to learn about other vocations.
Everyone needs services in some way within their career and just understanding how to do things the way they are supposed to be done and the textured expo can help with that.
“We have so many students interested in cosmetology, so having these technicians come is really important because we don’t have this program at the high school,” said Mrs. Murphy.
Bare Beauty will be demonstrating waxing services and skin care. Lashes are newly incorporated as well due to their current popularity. Braiders will be working live.
A person doesn’t realize how hard something can be until it’s seen done by another individual or they are able to try themselves.
Mrs. Murphy hopes that all community members and, specifically WPHS staff, will attend the event as a learning opportunity. We could all benefit from taking a walk in someone else’s extra-long-square-pink-bubblegum-nails for once!
