All About Park and CTE open house is February 20th 2025, at Wheeling Park High School. It will be held from four p.m till 7 p.m. This event is for all incoming freshmen and their families.
¨All About Park is our kick-off event to start 9th grade transition activities. It is open to public, private and parochial students and we try to create an environment that helps 8th graders and families get excited about coming to Wheeling Park High School. The open house format allows for families to explore the building, see all the amazing opportunities we offer and interact with our teachers, coaches, counselors and clubs. Because it is also CTE Open House, it allows our CTE students to show off the amazing work they do in their simulated workplaces,¨ said Meredith Dailer, head principal at Wheeling Park High School.
Many different sports will be set up in the gym to show what each team has to offer, and a place to sign up.
¨We want incoming students to know what types of extracurricular activities they can join when they enroll at Park, including sports. A coach affiliated with the sport will be there to answer any questions and give details on the upcoming season,¨ said Richard Marsh, assistant activities director.
The department chairs will be set up by the classrooms using a tri-fold board to promote different classes that each department offers.
¨Students can expect to meet many of the teachers from the department. Those teachers can answer any questions regarding our department’s graduation requirements and what our department offers in addition to the core classes,¨ said Jack Kaniecki, department chair for the math department.
Some of the CTE programs will be working during the open house for students to watch and see what the programs are about.
¨We will have cars on display, the alignment rack will be highlighted with a vehicle demo. We also will have a vehicle connected to our diagnostic code scanner demonstrating scanner use and trouble code information. Tire machine and tire balancer will be in operation as well. Students will be available to answer questions,¨ said Walt Bugaj, CTE teacher.
