The art department at Wheeling Park High School is getting ready for the annual countywide Celebration of the Arts on March 27th in the ILC which is free and open to the public.
This year’s event promises to showcase the incredible talent and creativity of our students, reflecting their unique perspectives through various mediums. Mr. Schulz and Mrs. Freeman are two Wheeling Park High School art teachers. They work fantastically to get their students to unfold and show their colors. They do not only help the students learn new techniques, but they also serve as a great mentor. From helping apply for scholarships to helping find art inspiration these teachers do a fantastic job.
Kenzie Watson is a senior art student at Wheeling Park High School and is working on an ambitious new piece reflecting her journey as an artist. Inspired by the vibrant colors of nature and the emotions tied to different seasons, she has decided to create an acrylic painting that captures the essence of her experiences. As she carefully applies each layer of paint, Kenzie finds herself deeply immersed in the creative process, experimenting with textures and hues to bring her vision to life. Her mentors, Mr. Schultz and Mrs. Freeman, guide and encourage her to embrace her individuality and artistic voice. This new project not only allows Kenzie to express herself but also serves as a personal exploration of her passions and aspirations for the future. With each brushstroke, she feels more connected to her art, and her excitement for the final reveal grows day by day.
Kenzie Watson has been working on many different pieces, some being held for exhibition at the Stifle Fine Arts Center in Wheeling.
” I have been at work on my new piece for the national art show this March,” said Watson.
“Watson is one of our hardest working students and exlempflies what it means to be dedicated to her work,” said Mr. Schultz.

Using clay and tools Yost makes spectacular pieces. His passion for sculpture has led him to explore various techniques and styles, using clay as his primary medium. With each piece, Christian demonstrates a keen eye for detail and a unique artistic vision that captivates viewers. He meticulously selects tools to shape and refine his creations, often pushing the boundaries of traditional sculpting.
