The bowling team started in November of 2022. In their third season since establishment, the team has grown a lot.
The first year the boys team had just enough to make two teams. The girls barely had enough to make one. This year both teams have plenty of bowlers for both boys and girls.
“When we started we were just happy to be there, now the expectation is to win,” said bowling coach, Mr.Orth.
The team is truly in it to win it.
“The Bowling Team has grown because the first year we had it we were just plugging people in and we weren’t sure what we were gonna get, now we know what we are gonna get,” said assistant coach Mr. Chacalos
The freshman this year look really promising and are excited to bowl.
“I am excited to work hard and get better at bowling,” said freshman Rhys Wear.
This is Rhys’s first year bowling. Maggie has been bowling in leagues for a while.
“I am most looking forward to participating in team activities and competing in the matches,” said freshman Maggie Miller
With the WVSSAC class restructuring, there are new schools and new competition this year.
“The boy’s biggest competition is Parkersburg South and the girls are probably East Liverpool,” said Orth.
The boys have big shoes to fill this year. They lost Zac Davis and Jared Marsh who were big attributes to the team.
“We lost our best bowlers, but they are going to carry the load that they left,” said Orth.
There are three senior girls this year Emma Wear, Sarah Seivertson, and Delaney Randolph. These girls have been here since the beginning. They are going to be hard to replace next year.
“I am sad that it’s my last year, but I wanna go out with a win,” said Randolph.
The bowling team has their City Tournament on the 14th. Come out and support the team!
