Andrew Pasden, senior at Wheeling Park High School, competed at Ohio Valley Barbell for a weight lifting competition and set two total state records.
Pasden competed with bench press, deadlift, and squat. His first bench press was 292 pounds, which set the record, the second bench press was 303 pounds, which set the record again, and the third and final bench press was 314 which now holds the state record. He squated 418 pounds and his deadlift was 451 which also set another state record.
Pasden started going to the gym in 2022.
“I wanted to get stronger and get more muscles,” said Pasden.
The most recent competition Pasden competed for something more than just him.
“My grandma passed away and that’s why I did my most recent meet; it motivated me to do it for her ”, said Pasden
Pasden trains at Ohio Valley Barbell five times a week.
“He is extremely hard working and pays attention to detail to our programming. He’s asking questions and doing whatever he can to get better” said Justin Cruz, owner of Ohio Valley Barbell.
“He is caring, a good member, friend, and brother”, said Cruz.
Outside of the gym Andrew goes to school, and works. He enjoys talking and hanging out with his friends.
“I’ve known Andrew for the past four years, and he is a very hard working person, he can make anyone laugh if they are down.”, said Koven Burkle, senior at Wheeling Park High School, and friend of Pasden.
