Ms. Dean is currently in her first year of teaching in the science department at WPHS.
I wanted to teach science because my degree is in Biology.’ said Dean. “I became a teacher this year at WPHS. This was my first choice because I wanted to teach high school science.”
Ms. Dean found her passion for teaching when she was in high school.
“I have always enjoyed tutoring peers. In highschool, I led a calculus study group that helped me and my friends pass our college calculus credit. Once I received my bachelors degree in General Biology from West Liberty University, I felt called back to my tutoring roots. I chose to become a teacher through the WVDE alternative program.” said Ms Dean.
Of course, Ms. Dean is more than just a science teacher.
“I am expecting my first child right now, but you can still find me at the YMCA weight room! Weight lifting, sprinting, juicing, and makeup are my hobbies!” said Dean.
Her teaching philosophies are to treat her students with respect and understanding. She wants to instill values along with strong work ethic and classroom confidence in her students.
“Ms Dean is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. I love that she actually cares about her students and that she actually helps her students,” said Kiley Cole, a student in her 7th period class.
