Jay Bordas is the quarterback for the Wheeling Park High School football team as only a sophomore. Currently, Bordas is the #4 AAAA ranked quaterback in the state according to MaxPreps.
Bordas started to play football in kindergarten as a Wheeling Park Little Patriot. He continued in middle school football and became a varsity and junior varsity starter at Wheeling Park High School this season.
“Football is kinda a thing in my family so I grew up with football”said Bordas. Jay’s father, Jamie Bordas, was a quaterback for Wheeling Park in the early 90s and has coached football throughout the valley for years.
Bordas likes football because of the atmosphere of the games and the commraderie of the practices. He likes to always win the game no matter what team they are playing against. Bordas tries his best no matter how tired he is or if he had a rough day
“This year, being a sophomore quarterback, is hardest position to be a young starter. Our goal is to get better every week and he’s done that with flying colors. He passed those tests and continues to get better” said head football coach Daugherty.
Bordas’ goal for this season, and any season, is to always win the state championship. He sets his sights high.
“My teammates are always supportive, even if I make a mistake there are always there for me through the high and low moments. I am thankful for each of them,” said Bordas.
