The Music Changes the World concert took place at Wheeling Park High School on October 15 at 6:00 pm.
The Patriot choirs were joined by the eighth graders from Triadelphia to give them insight on how Wheeling Park conducts choir. The eighth graders sang with Young Patriots, Concert Choir, Women’s ensemble, Men’s bass clef, and Voice of freedom. The songs that were sung were “Revolution”, “Don’t Stop Me Now ‘,”Together we are Better”, “I am a Walking Symphony”, “Music Changes the World”, “Chosen Family”, and “You are Light.”
Mrs. Greenwood has been teaching choir at Wheeling Park for 11 years. Mrs. Greenwood has performed in choir since she was in fifth grade.
“We really like to make sure that not only are rhythms and notes accurate, but also about the message and the feeling behind the music. We want to make sure that the music on the page comes to life and what you’re saying is really important, the dynamics, and it is important for the students to connect with the eighth graders,” said Mrs. Greenwood.
Mrs. Jingle has expressed that a lot goes into the concert.
“In addition to daily rehearsals, we make sure they have practice tracks and sometimes those are available for purchase but sometimes you have to make your own.”
Mrs. Jingle also stated that everything is posted in Schoology so that students can practice at home.
Choir has been performing at Wheeling Park High school since 1976, the year the school was established. It has been a part of the curriculum since the “beginning of time,” said Mrs. Jingle.
The concert was a hit!
