Wheeling Park senior, Reese Moores, was crowned homecoming queen at the annual homecoming football game. Moores stood by her friends and twin sister and graciously accepted the title.
Moores recalled her time on homecoming court and shared that the most enjoyable aspect was being able to share this moment with her friends. She emphasized that it didn’t matter if she won or lost, the fact of being part of the court and being able to spend time with her friends was what made the experience truly special for her.
“It’s really exciting, I had a really fun time just being on the court, and spending time with my friends and picking out outfits and just having a lot of fun,” said Moores.
Each year, a group of senior students is chosen as the homecoming court. These classmates are nominated by their peers;they are believed to best represent the school and its traditions throughout the festivities which include a parade, football game, and dance.
The nominees for queen were: Alexis Bordas, Anna Brannare, Ciera Faulstick, Bethany Greathouse, Lexi Irwin, Trinity Kimmins, Reese Moores, Harper Moores, Katlin Ortiz, and Katelyn Smith.
Among the many talented and well-liked seniors who were nominated for homecoming court, two stand out for their unique connection. Reese Moores and her twin sister Harper Moores. It is not often that siblings are chosen for the homecoming court, let alone twin sisters. This made the sister selection even more special, as they were able to share this rare experience together.
Mrs. Moores expressed her enthusiasm for both Reese and Harper’s participation in the special event. She acknowledged that having their friends and sister by their side throughout the experience added to the excitement.
“It was very exciting for both of them, they enjoyed hanging out with their friends on the court, and they had a really good time, it was a great experience. “said Mrs. Moores.
Mrs. Moores does admit that the family had more chances of one of them winning due to two of the girls being on the court, and is very happy for Reese.
“I’m really happy for her, but the family did have odds in our favor having two,” said Mrs. Moores.
Wheeling Park’s homecoming court this year was a true celebration of community and school spirit. Reese, the newly crowned homecoming queen, shared her excitement at being chosen, and her twin sister Harper Moores stood by her side as a fellow member of the court, making the experience of being nominated even more special for the sisters. The entire school came together to honor the chosen few and recognize the importance of tradition in celebrating homecoming. It was a night to remember.
