Trick or treating has been a Halloween tradition since the sixteenth century but only recently has become a trend for teens to join the fun too.
Some teens may find it embarrassing to dress up in costumes and go door to door behind little kids to get candy. Some adults may not even share their candy with teenagers.
However, teens trick or treating can be a safe way for teenagers to have fun with friends on Halloween.
“Teens aren’t going out to drink alcohol and it’s more safe than going out to parties.” said junior Lily Fullerton.
In a world with so much technology and kids growing up faster than they should, what’s wrong with teens enjoying their childhood a little bit longer before becoming adults?
“I think that they’re not technically adults yet, so they should still be able to trick or treat.” said Fullerton.
Other teens may find trick or treating is embarrassing or not considerate to little kids.
“I just feel like trick or treating is more for little kids and people only have limited candy so if a lot of teens go out and take all the candy the little kids won’t be able to get as much, which lessons the experience.” said junior Cooper Abraham.
Some teens with younger siblings or family members go trick or treating with younger kids to make sure they stay safe. Sometimes dressing up can make the night more fun for their younger loved ones. So do they get a treat too?
If teens are well-behaved and don’t ruin the night for little kids, should they still be able to dress up and go out? Do you think that teens taking candy away from kids isn’t fair or, do teens still count as kids?
Maybe this is a wholesome trend for teens or maybe it’s selfish to take away from the younger kids. Whether you decide to put on your spooky fashion and trick or treat this Halloween or not remember to stay safe and have fun! Happy Halloween!
