Dupes Scoops Brings Ice Cream Back to Fulton

Soft serve twist cake cone with rainbow sprinkles brighten the streets of Fulton in the first few days of being open.

Dupes Scoops is open in Fulton in the former site of the Dairy Queen walk-up. They are open Monday through Friday from 3 PM to 9 PM , and 12 PM to 9 PM on the weekends.

The owner, Luke Duplaga, wanted a challenge. “I decided to purchase the old Fulton DQ because I wanted something for myself to push me even harder in life to be successful,” said Duplaga.

“The name Dupes Scoops came from my dad, he was called dupes,” said Duplaga. “We each had our own version like people called me bubba dupes.”

The walk-up will serve a multitude of ice cream varieties including soft serve and scoops.

“Now the scoops come into play because I’m not just serving soft serve. There is full serve scooped flavor ice cream menu.”

On top of the scoops, there is a soft opening menu that includes: ice cream nachos, muirfield shakes, and avalanches. This menu can be found on their official Facebook, Dupes Scoops & more.

“I personally really liked it. I got Superman ice cream in a waffle bowl, and I thought it was really good! If you haven’t tried it yet I really recommend it. The prices are also super cheap,” said junior, Tiarah Sutphin.

Dupes Scoops has posted pictures of patrons lining up to try the renewed spot on their instagram @dupes_scoops.

“The most exciting thing I can share with the community right now is just really how grateful I am for everybody who asked about the new venture and has been very supportive of everything in the last couple months,” said Duplaga.

Da'Cairais currently a freshman at Park and a staff writer with The Park Press and is in her first year. She plans on doing Park Press for a while. She used to volunteer with Grow Ohio Valley. Da’Caira Smith was also basketball player for 1.5 years at Wheeling Middle School and played block. She was awarded Student of the Month in 2024 and graduated from Wheeling Middle School. She plans to take honors classes as either a junior or senior. DaCaira plans on going to college at Wheeling University or Belmont College to work in law enforcement at the Wheeling Police department as a K9 Officer.

Carter Bauer, Co-Editor in Chief

Carter Bauer is the Co-Editor in Chief of The Park Press, and a Wheeling Park High School senior. Carter is proud to be one of few members of the founding staff, and is a part of the 44 time winning Speech and Debate team. Carter competes in events such as: Informative Speaking, DUO Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, and is a first place states winner in Program Oral Interpretation. Carter is a member of the Wheeling Park chapter of the National Honors Society, The National Speech and Debate Association, The Thespian Society, and the newly introduced Quill & Scroll Society. Carter is also a two-year Freshman Mentor. Though Carter is highly involved at Wheeling Park High School, she still finds time to indulge in the hobbies she loves. Carter is an avid lover of Starbucks, shopping, and a good manicure. Minus all the superficial things she seeks joy in, Carter’s biggest source of happiness is her friends, family, teammates, coworkers, and fellow staff members.
