Meet Mr. Werner

Mr. Werner is adapting easily to the halls of Wheeling Park High School.

With the start of a new school year, we welcome many new teachers and staff members. And one of those teachers is new health and physical education teacher, Mr. Werner. He brings teaching experience from Brooke High School and West Liberty University-where he still coaches football and teaches. Werner has been a teacher at West Liberty University since 2017.

Werner has had a great start to Park.

“It’s been great! It really hasn’t been that much of an adaptation. I have taught more in depth health material so I am really interacting more with the kids to help them grow as opposed to really drilling the content,” said Werner

Mrs. Abraham, who is the physical education department chair, said that he has been a great addition.

“He fits right in with our staff, cares a lot about his students, and brings with him an array of knowledge from West Liberty University where he has taught in the education department,” said Mrs. Abraham.

Andrew Pennybacker, Copy Editor

Andrew is a junior and has been a Copy Editor for the last 2 years. He has been a staff member at The Park Press since the first day of freshman year. He was also Editor in Chief his 8th grade year in middle school for the Viking Voices. In fifth grade, he was a finalist for the young writers contest. Andrew is an avid golfer, and has played a few of the country's best golf courses. He was a member of the 2022 West Virginia State Championship winning golf team. Andrew is the self proclaimed Park Press’ resident golfer. In addition to this, he became a Freshman Mentor at the start of his junior year. From Kindergarten to 5th grade, Andrew only missed 5 words on all of the spelling tests combined.

Carter Bauer, Co-Editor in Chief

Carter Bauer is the Co-Editor in Chief of The Park Press, and a Wheeling Park High School senior. Carter is proud to be one of few members of the founding staff, and is a part of the 44 time winning Speech and Debate team. Carter competes in events such as: Informative Speaking, DUO Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, and is a first place states winner in Program Oral Interpretation. Carter is a member of the Wheeling Park chapter of the National Honors Society, The National Speech and Debate Association, The Thespian Society, and the newly introduced Quill & Scroll Society. Carter is also a two-year Freshman Mentor. Though Carter is highly involved at Wheeling Park High School, she still finds time to indulge in the hobbies she loves. Carter is an avid lover of Starbucks, shopping, and a good manicure. Minus all the superficial things she seeks joy in, Carter’s biggest source of happiness is her friends, family, teammates, coworkers, and fellow staff members.
