Styles of Potatoes As Zodiac Signs

September is National Potato Month! To celebrate, let’s explore the versatile world of potato dishes and their fun connection to the 12 zodiac signs.

Capricorn – Fondant potato

Capricorns may seem shy and reserved, but once they become comfortable, they are loving and helpful on the inside. Letting a Capricorn get comfortable is like allowing a fondant potato to roast slowly so it becomes the perfect mixture of flavors. Capricorns set high goals for themselves, similar to how a fondant potato has to live up to its history as a French dish.

Aquarius – Potato Soup

Known to be independent and creative, Aquarius would be Potato Soup. Aquarians can stand alone or with others, like potato soup, a main course, or a side dish. Aquarius is also known to be creative and not one to follow instructions, similar to how potato soup can be created in many different ways.

Pisces – French Fry

Pisceans are known for their adaptability like French fries are everywhere. It doesn’t matter if you are eating out at a nice restaurant or grabbing a bite on the go; you’ll find fries on the menu. Pisces are also known to be compassionate and incredibly empathetic.

Aries – Scalloped Potato

Scalloped potatoes are a great mix of many different flavors, just like Aries is a mixture of many different personalities. Known for their loyalty, Aries will always stick to your side, just like scalloped potatoes will always be a great side dish for any dinner.

Taurus – Mashed Potato

Taurus, being known for being “chill,” would be a mashed potato. A mashed potato is a simple dish that can be made into much more; Taurus is the same way. Taurus is dependable and will always be by your side, similar to how mashed potatoes will always be there for you.

Gemini – Potato Casserole

Known for being quick and easy, Geminis would be potato casserole. Geminis are quick-witted and easily pick up knowledge. They are easy to talk to and make great friends. Potato Casserole is a quick and easy dinner to throw in the oven. It also makes a great companion.

Cancer – Potato Chips

Cancerians show loving and nurturing signs like a potato chip will always be there for you. Cancers and chips will be there for you through thick and thin. Cancers have a variety of personality traits similar to the varieties of potato chips.

Leo – Breakfast Potato

Breakfast Potatoes are best served in the morning, so that would make them most similar to a Leo. Leos are always ready to go and take on the day. They are often characterized as leaders, just like the breakfast potato will lead you into your day.

Virgo – Baked Potato

Known to be a bit of a perfectionist, Virgos are like baked potatoes. They are also often known to be outstanding at what they do, just like a perfect baked potato. A baked potato can be loaded up in many ways, but with just the right specifications, it can be achieved.

Libra – Hash Brown

Libras love to make peace with others and are known to be charming. Another characteristic of a Libra is a love for balance. Hashbrowns are the perfect balance between breakfast food and delicious. The best part about hashbrowns is they don’t even have to be served at breakfast. Just like a Libra, a hashbrown is the perfect harmony.

Scorpio – Potato Salad

Scorpios are known to be strong and loyal, just like potato salad. Potato salad will always be a loyal side dish; it is a staple at summer picnics. Scorpios have strong and intense personalities, similar to the intense taste of potato salad.

Sagittarius – Tater Tots

With a fiery personality, Sagittarius is like a tater tot-calm at first, then intense. Just like a tater tot can be enjoyed plain or with a variety of sauces, Sagittarius is adaptable and always up for a new adventure.

Claire McFadden, a dedicated copy editor, is currently in her second year at the Park Press. Claire is the proud writer of the September 2023 article, "National Chicken Month". When she's not working on the Press, Claire can be found on the field during Friday Night Lights, twirling with the marching band. Her love for performing extends to the stage at Oglebay Institute's Towngate Theater, where she recently took on a lead role in the performance of Fools. Outside of her professional and performing pursuits, Claire is a dedicated student and nature enthusiast. Her academic excellence was recognized when she graduated 8th with honors from Wheeling Country Day School's inaugural middle school class.

Elle Terek, Photo and Media Manager

Elle Terek is the Photo Editor of the Park Press. She has been a part of the Press for three years, seeing the newspaper from its inception. Terek focuses more on design aspects of the Park Press, as she is the sole editor of the Alumni One-Pager, and newly overseeing the media and photography aspects of the Press. Terek has an extensive background in dance, an art-form where stories are told without the use of words. While she is also a decorated writer, as well as a cheerleader, using her voice to persuade dozens, Terek naturally flourishes in the world of photojournalism. You may recognize Terek from local commercials and advertisements in the Ohio Valley. She is the face of Oglebay splash pad and aerial course. Terek is a AAA cheerleading regional champion. Most notably, Terek has mastered the craft of the Snickerdoodle. Her recipe is perfected to make your mouth water, and no, she will not share it.
