Taylor Andrews is a Senior here at Wheeling Park High School. She is a 4 year member of the Wheeling Park Choir, an active Thespian both in and out of school, and is one of the 17 original Park Press members. Taylor plans to attend Manhattanville College, and major in musical theatre.
Taylor has spent her time here at wheeling park working hard, making friends, and furthering her passion for musical theatre.
“Being a member of the theatre department has been amazing. I truly believe I’ve grown so much in these four years as a performer. I’ve done so much that I never even thought I’d be capable of, and it’s really shown me that I have so much more potential and ability than I ever would have thought.”
Taylors progress has not only been seen within, but also by her teachers.
Joyce Jingle, Taylors choir teacher states, “Over the years I have seen Taylor make progress as a soloist because of the study and work she puts in outside of the classroom. I have seen Taylor grow to become a valuable member of the choir community. She worked hard to achieve her placement in Young Patriots and has set high standards for herself.”
Mrs.Jingle has taught and directed Taylor since Freshman year, but knew of her throughout her middle school choir career. Jingle has seen Taylor grow not just as a singer, but also as a person.
“Taylor is a joy to have in the choir, not only because of her talent, but because of her reliability and commitment. She has certainly left her mark on both the choir and theater programs here at Park,” Jingle said.
Taylor works hard at everything she does, and the staff here at The Park Press is lucky enough to experience that first hand. Taylor is a dedicated writer, editor, and overall friend.
“The Park Press has really helped me find new passions and skill sets. When I started, I didn’t really expect to like the newspaper, I only took it because I wanted another class with Mrs. Droginske. But within these two years I have fallen in love with journalism and found that I thoroughly enjoy reporting. It’s been such an honor working with such an incredible staff and the two best Editors-in-Chief to ever exist- Dia O’Bryant and Lucy Aderholt. This press is so amazing because of their leadership and passion and working with both of them has been an honor.”
Though we will all be sad to see Taylor take her final bow, we are grateful to have had such a hard working, loving, and dedicated staff member on The Park Press to look up to.
“Going into the arts as a career is not easy. There will be plenty of rejection. But it is not personal. Learn to realize that it is just a part of the process and comes with the territory. Work hard at your craft as I know you will, and you will build a fulfilling career. Always remember your roots and let us know when and where you will be performing so we can be in your audience once again! Best wishes to you!” said Jingle.
