Shelby Gibson is a senior journalism student who is involved in many different activities in and outside of school. They love volunteering for Park Players, as well as Towngate Theater. Shelby recently helped to make ‘Mamma Mia’ a reality here at WPHS.
“I am assistant directing and stage managing the spring musical,” said Gibson.
They have stage-managed for many shows, including Towngate Theater’s ‘Little Women’, ‘The One and Only Santa Claus’, ‘Clue’, and others.
“In ‘Little Women’, I stage managed and played two characters,” Gibson said.
Shelby plans on attending Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. They plan to major in film production and possibly minor in journalism.
“After college, I would like to move to Pittsburgh to start getting small jobs stage managing productions, or just helping on set,” said Gibson.
Shelby had Mrs. Johnson for multiple English classes. They bonded over their shared interest in TV shows, podcasts, and books.
“My favorite memory with Shelby is all the times we would talk about our geeky obsessions and recommendations,” said Johnson. “I hope they keep in touch—they will be missed next year,” said Johnson.
As Shelby moves out of high school and into college, they have some words of advice for future WPHS students.
“This is the perfect time to discover new interests and who you are.”
