Lily Osborne is one very dedicated student, dancer, and friend. Osborne is a senior here at Wheeling Park, and her main passion is dance. She attends Oglebay Institute’s School of Dance and has been a member of their Youth Ballet Company for eight years.
Currently, she is seventeen years old, but first started dancing at the age of two. She doesn’t remember a specific moment when she fell in love with dance, but doesn’t remember when she didn’t love the art.
Osborne balances both dance and school superbly! When discussing the balance, she says, “While it’s challenging, it comes down to prioritizing your time and dedication.”
Osborne describes her passion makes her feel free.
“It allows me to express myself in a non vocal way,” Lily Osborne said.
She takes several high honors courses at Park, and has maintained straight A’s for years. She has taken AP, CP, and honors courses beginning freshman year at Park.
“I would like a class full of Lilys if I could,” CP English 12 teacher Mrs. Nelson said.
“No matter what her future holds, she will be very successful,” Sociology teacher Mr. Beltrando said.
Osborne has always been a natural learner, and has loved school. Yet, she loves to dance more. This season, she has been in two productions. First, she was the Tin-Man in Oglebay Institute’s production of The Wizard of Oz. She then performed as an Arabian Dancer in Nutcracker: A Magical Christmas Ballet at the Capitol. She is the Rat Queen at Oglebay’s Nutcracker. Tickets for Oglebay Institute’s version of The Nutcracker are currently on sale at oionline.com now!
Lily Osborne has committed to Point Park University where she will major in Dance. Her dream is to be a Rockette in New York City! We can’t wait to see her in New York!
