Wheeling Park High School’s Girls’ Soccer Team is having an incredibly strong season this fall. With an overall record of 10-0, the Patriots remain undefeated.
One of the team’s captains, senior Hailey Hastings, is by no means surprised that the team has done this well this season.
“We’ve really built chemistry as a team and are connecting really well. It helps us on the field,” said Hastings.
Although winning is rewarding for the team, coach Tom Smith has a more important goal for the team.
“The most important aspect right now, and throughout the regular season, is to consistently improve in every game we play, learn from our mistakes, understand our strengths and weaknesses and to be adjustable,” said Smith.
The team is very special to Smith, who started coaching because his daughter, 2025 Wheeling Park graduate, Katelyn Smith, was entering her final year of high school soccer.
“After getting to know the players on the team, we formed a good bond, and I enjoy their company. In short, I love coaching the team. They are a great group of kids, and we have a good time. Wheeling Park has a ton of talented players who are very dedicated to the sport,” said Smith.
With the State Championship approaching, Hailey Hastings believes the team has a good chance.
“I think we have a good run at States this year. I’m really excited to see where we go,” said Hastings.
Patriots, we wish you the best of luck with the rest of your season!
