Mr. Nardone feels the support from his "back hall boys."
Mr. Nicholas “Nick” Nardone, was named the Teacher of the Year at Wheeling Park High School for the 24-25 school year. He teaches Learning Skills and is a part of the SUCCEED department.
Mr. Nardone was inspired to be a teacher by his family.
“My whole family is made up of teachers. I love working with students in both school and sports. It’s kind of been just a way of life for me and my family, for as long as I remember I never wanted to do anything else,” said Nardone.
His sister currently teaches at Middle Creek Elementary and his father was the head football coach from 1998-2009. Nardone also coaches football and baseball.
“I think before you teach anything, you have to be able to be able to build relationships with them and the most important thing is for them to understand that you care about them. And the goods and bads. Then after that the content comes easier,” said Nardone.
On a bad days he likes to have the mindset that the sun will come up tomorrow and there’s always a new day.
“My teacher friends in the back hallway,we have fun back here. They make me laugh sometimes too and when I’m in bad moods I come out of it pretty quickly. So shout out to the back hallway teachers!” said Nardone.
When Nardone found out he was the teacher of the year he felt good and recognized by his peers.”It feels rewarding to know that your peers think kindly of you”
