Through March 3rd there will be a Tshirt fundraiser to raise money for Wheeling Park High School sophomore, Michael Kuthy, to help with costs while he battles osteosarcoma. The link to order can be found here or on Schoology, and it is requested that you choose WPHS as the shipping option.
The fundraiser has been up and running since February 19th, and is just one of a few opportunities to donate to this incredibly deserving cause. “Anything helps, the family is grateful for everything,” said Mr. Chad Stout.
Stout has been working, along with Mr. Nicholas Nardone, Mr. Steve Myers, Nurse Kylie Updegraff, Mr. Zach Phillips, and other faculty members to create opportunities for the Kuthy family to receive funding.
There have been a few other fundraising opportunities across the county including the cancer research hockey game back in December, and a donation from Wheeling Country Day School’s third grade class market.
The third grade class worked together to create different products, sell them around the community, and ultimately donate their earnings. Wheeling Country Day School Preschool teacher, Meredith Shaw, knew of the Kuthy family’s situation and put the fundraiser’s name into the mix. The class collectively raised over 1,000 dollars, and had four choices of where to donate the profits.
“They were allowed to vote where they wanted to send the profit to, and they unanimously voted to send it to Michael and his family. So the third grade class is a hero,” said Nurse Kylie Updegraff.
If you are interested in donating to the Kuthy family past the March 3rd deadline, please look into the upcoming gift card raffle. From now until March 10th Nurse Kylie Updegraff will be collecting gift cards in the Health Clinic. The fundraiser will be using a digital platform, and run for approximately two weeks.
On Friday February 21st, staff members, including Mr. Chad Stout, visited Michael in Morgantown.
“Michaels spirits are high, and he’s staying very positive,” said Stout.
Please look into participating in any of these fundraising opportunities, absolutely anything helps!
